The largest study ever conducted on diet and cancer showed that vegetarians are 45% less likely to develop blood cancers like Lymphoma and Leukemia than those who eat meat. The study published in the British Journal of Cancer also found that Vegetarians were 12% less likely to develop cancer overall.
The American Institute for Cancer Research recommends not eating more than 2.5 oz or red meat each day (about the size of a deck of cards.) Eating any more than that can increase a person’s risk of developing cancer by 30%.
Research has also found that eating processed meats, like sausage, pepperoni and hot dogs has greater health risks than fresh meat.
