A few years ago while attending a home show, there was a booth where the Vita-Mix blender was being demonstrated. As I watched, the Vita-Mix made fresh ice cream in 30 seconds. But,– $400 for a blender? I could never justify spending that on a blender. As I ate my freshly made ice cream, I saw the blender make a variety of juices,– made from the entire fruit, peel, seeds, and all. All liquified to non-existence, but $400? I wasn’t convinced. Then the demonstrator put canned chicken breast, fresh peppers, tomato, and other vegetables into the Vita-Mix, and she explained that because of the high speed at which the Vita-Mix operates, not only can it make ice cream in 30 seconds (as she explained frozen items are liquified so quickly that they are able to re-freeze immediately) but it can also make hot soup since the friction from the blender’s blades create heat when the it is allowed to run for a few minutes. As she served me a cup of steaming hot tortilla soup, I was convinced.
Since I’ve had my Vita-Mix, it has become one of the most used appliances in my kitchen. I’ve used it for parties to make refreshing frozen drinks, for fancy dinners to make delicious deserts, and several times a week for soups, sauces, deserts, salsas, even bread!
Now that I eat mostly raw vegetables, nuts, and fruits, my Vita-Mix is indispensable. I am very happy and lucky to own one.
